Utz B'e Excursions is not the typical tour
company. There are no tour buses, no gift shops.
In their place is a truer Guatemalan experience,
one that lets you experience the beauty, history,
and aura of the country.
Trips with Utz B'e are "off the beaten track," and
include visits to Mayan religious sites and rural
indigenous schools, among other places. Sergio,
the English-speaking Mayan guide, comes
recommended by Lonely Planet and Rough
Guide, and possesses an extensive knowledge of
Guatemalan history, culture, archaeology, flora,
and fauna.
Most trips with Utz B'e are to three places: 1)
around Lake Atitlan, 2) in the western Xela
valley, and 3) in the northern jungles of the
Peten, where Mayan archaeological sites like
Tikal and Uaxactun are located. One can
experience all of these places with Utz B'e, or
can take a simple day hike around the beautiful
Lake Atitlan, visiting locations still sacred to the
local Mayan cultures. Visits to other locations,
such as the colonial town of Antigua or the
traditional market town of Chichicastenango,
can also be arranged. Prices will vary depending
